Division 1/2 - East: Elizabeth Pirie, Dakota Lancers, Goaltender #33
Elizabeth backstopped her team in two important wins this week to propel the Dakota Lancers to 6th seed in Division 1/2 - East. First, she stopped 25 of 26 shots in the Lancers tough fought 3-1 win over the Gabrielle-Roy/Pointe-des-Chenes Cavaliers on Thursday. This important victory allowed the Lancers a chance at securing a top spot for playoffs. The next day, the Lancers faced the Lorette Scorpions, where Elizabeth stopped 28 of 29 shots to secure a 2-1 win. For the week, her goals against average was .963%. Congratulations Elizabeth!
Division 1/2 - West: Sadie Poelverde, John Taylor Pipers, Defence #10
Sadie played a brilliant game for the John Taylor Pipers in a nailbiter 4-3 OT win over the Churchill Bulldogs on Tuesday. She shut down the opposing Bulldogs through her tenacious play in the defensive zone while also jumping up in the attack on many occasions. She finished the game with 1 goal that was an absolute beauty as she gathered the puck along the boards, danced into the attacking zone with her stellar skating, then dangled around the Bulldog defender with a beautiful move going top shelf with a nasty back hand. Her goal lit a spark in her team that eventually finished the come from behind win. Congratulations Sadie!
Division 3: Andyn Ewald, Beliveau Barracudas, Defence #5
Andyn finished the regular season with a dominant performance against Murdoch Mackay on Wednesday. She is a steady defender on the blue line that was able to tally two points in the Barracuda’s 3-0 victory. She assisted on the games opening shorthanded goal, then sealed the Barracuda’s win with a power play goal of her own mid-way thru the third. Congratulations Andyn!
