Congrats Players of the Week ending Jan.10!

Jan. 13, 2020

Week ending - January 10, 2020

CTV Division 1: Julia Bird, St. Mary’s Flames, Forward #10

Julia had a busy week coming back from winter break. She was instrumental in helping the Flames to 3-game victories. On Monday, Julia earned an assist during the Flames 7-1 win over the Selkirk Royals, and on Wednesday, she helped her team to a 4-0 win against the Beliveau Barracudas. Friday was Julia’s break out game earning 4 points in the Flames 12-1 victory over the Jeanne Sauvé Olympiens.   She scored her first goal of her hattrick late in the first period before adding two more tallies in the second period, and for good measure, she added an assist in the third.  Congratulations Julia!

Winnipeg Free Press Division 2: Alessia Rendina, Sturgeon Heights Huskies, Goalie #1

In 100 minutes of action, Allesia back stopped two wins for a Huskies’ game sweep this week. On Tuesday, Alessia stopped all 17 shots including a late push of 9 shots, doubling her previous two periods shot total in a 3-0 shutout win over the SJR Eagles. In her second stellar performance on Thursday, Alessia stopped 22 of 23 shots. Her lone blemish was in the first period, and in final 40 minutes she turned away 13 shots as her teammates potted 7 straight goals to cruise to a 7-1 win over the Oak Park Raiders.  Congratulations Alessia!

Hire Marketing Division 3: Samantha Onyebuchi, CPET Canadiennes, Defence #9

Samantha played a solid two-way game in both Canadiennes games this week, contributing to two team wins. On Tuesday in their 5-1 win over the TCI Titans, Samantha was strong on defence and her solid passing notched a pair of assists.  On Friday, Samantha’s strong performance netted her a goal and an assist in her team’s 5-1 win over the KE Reivers. Samantha is one of CPET’s leading scorers with 14 points. A great start to 2020. Congratulations Samantha!
