Congratulations to the Players of the Week ending October 20, 2023. You can also view the Players of the Week Archive.   

Division 1: Emma Roch, SMA Flames, Forward #6 

The Flames glowed bright during Opening Week with Emma helping her team claim two thrilling victories. In an intense first game vs the CJS Olympiens on Opening Day, Emma set the tone early with a goal, and continued to skate goal line to goal line fending off the competition for a 3-2 Flames win. The next day against her team’s 4-3 win over the Churchill Bulldogs, Emma earned another goal and 2 assists.  During one remarkable play, she teamed up with her line mate, forcing the goalie into a “pick one” situation that netted a goal after a beautiful pass. Congratulations Emma!   

Division2: Ainslie Zubec, Sturgeon Heights Huskies, Forward #17 

The Sturgeon Heights Huskies came out to play, hoping to earn their first win opening day on home ice.  Down by two goals nearing the end of the first period, Ainslee dug deep, and found the motivation she needed to start her team’s comeback.  She stepped back on the ice, turned his skills up to a higher level, and dominated the ice for the rest of the game.  She scored her first goal at the end of period one, and another to take the lead in the third period, concluding with an insurance goal for a hat-trick and a 5-3 win for the Huskies. Congratulations Ainslee! 

Division 3: Chloe McKay, Murdoch Mackay, Defence #44 

Chole McKay had a commanding performance during both of her team’s games during opening week. In game 1 Thursday, Murdoch claimed their first win vs the Beliveau Barracudas 4-0 with Chole contributing 1 goal and adding 2 assists. On Friday vs the Beausejour Barons,  Chole scored another goal and 2 assists for another 4-0 victory, and a 7-point week!  An amazing start to the season.  Congratulations Chloe!
