Players of the Week - 2015-16


Week ending March 4, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to the backbone of the Kelvin Clippers - Jaidyn Crosby, who was hot against the mighty St. Mary’s Flames, allowing only 3 goals in 3 games for the series and the win. Jaidyn stopped 18 shots in a heart-breaking 1-0 loss to the Flames. In game two, she stopped 16 shots as the Clippers eked out a 3-2 victory in over time. In the series final game, Jaidyn stopped all 22 shots for a shut-out in the 4-0 game 3 series win.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to CSHC Huskies Annaliese Meier, a power forward who had 1 assist in their 3-2 over time loss to the Selkirk Royals in game 1; picked up a goal in game two, a 3-2 overtime win; and then scored the game winner in the series final 2-0 win. An inspiration for her team, Annaliese was quick, strong, won most of her draws, and never stopped skating full-out from start to finish in the series.

Week ending February 26, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to the PCI Saints’ Bailey Grantham who played a pivotal role in securing her 6th seeded team’s win over the 3rd ranked VMC Trojans. In the first game of the series, Bailey assisted the Saints’ lone goal in a 5-1 loss. In game two, she scored 2 goals in a needed 5-3 win; and then finished off the series by adding 2 crucial assists in their 3-0 win in game 3.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals’ Courtney Sorokopud-Jones who raised her game a few notches, helping her team beat the tenacious CSHC Huskies 4-3 in over time. Courtney set up several scoring chances and was rewarded with a primary assist on the power play. Courtney then scored the game winning goal just 0:14 seconds in overtime.

Week ending February 19, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Kelvin Clippers’ Keyana Lee who displayed skill, determination and heart in helping her team defeat the Garden City Gophers in 2 straight opening round playoff games. In game one, Keyana scored all 3 goals in their 3-0 win, and three days later in a hard fought come-from-behind 6-4 victory, Keyana scored another 3 goals and chipped in with an assist.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Beliveau Barracudas’ Kennedee Hills, who was on fire in the first round of playoffs. In game one against the tough Glenlawn Lions, Kennedee set up her partner for the winning goal in a 2-1 overtime win. In game two, Kennedee came out flying, and in an awesome display of determination and persistence, she scored a hat-trick, securing the 4-2 win.

Week ending February 12, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Kelvin Clippers’ Jaidyn Crosby, whose outstanding goaltending led her team to three huge wins in the last week of regular season. Jaidyn stopped 25 shots including 3 huge stops in a hard fought 2-1 win over the Shaftesbury Titans; stopped 23 shots in a 2-1 victory over the power house St. Mary’s Flames; and finished the week stopping 18 shots in a 5-1 win over the dangerous Oak Park Raiders.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Glenlawn Lions’ Emily Leonard, a fire forward, who showed prowess around the SJR Eagles’ net scoring 4 goals, one short handed, in their playoff ready 9-2 win over the tenacious Eagles.

Week ending February 5, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to River East Kodiaks’ Kelsey McHolm and Emily Koop. This dynamic duo’s exceptional play secured two important victories for the Kodiaks this week. First in their thrilling 4-3 win over the Garden City Gophers, Kelsey scored a natural hat-trick and Emily claimed 2 assists. Then two days later in a nail-biter against the Dakota Lancers, Kelsey scored another 2 goals and an assist, while Emily also scored 2 goals and an assist, plus a 3rd goal in overtime to secure the 5-4 win.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Beliveau Barracudas’ Marlee Hislop who scored Beliveau’s first goal on a nice end-to-end rush. Showing great speed and determination throughout the game, Marlee helped her team defeat the SJR Eagles 3-0.

Week ending January 29, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Lorette Scorpions’ Reilli Howden who scored two goals in her team’s win against the FRC Centurions this week. Reilli also had a strong game earlier in the week, creating several scoring chances in her team’s win against the Springfield Sabres.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Grace Fedirchuk, who backstopped her team to three wins this week. Grace made a total of 48 saves (26 vs Selkirk Royals; 17 vs CSHC Huskies and 5 vs. West Kildonan Wolverines) and let in only 5 goals in the 3 games played.

Week ending January 22, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Westwood Warriors’ Alicia Prociuck who totaled up 6 points in her team’s two games this week. She opened the week with four goals in the 5-4 win over the Dakota Lancers; and two days later, she notched another goal and added an assist in her team’s 5-2 defeat against the Kelvin Clippers.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals’ Cassidy Ilchena who registered four goals and a helper in her team’s 12-1 victory over the SJR Eagles. Cassidy was able to score from all spots on the ice and was able to generate multiple other scoring opportunities to lead her team to the victory.

Week ending January 15, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Garden City Gophers’ Sadie Sommers. Sadie assisted on one goal early in the week in a loss to the Springfield Sabers; and later in the week against the FRC Centurions, she scored the game winning goal with two seconds remaining on the clock.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to CHSC Huskies’ Natasha Bate on her one goal and two assist performance in her team’s 9-3 win against the Beliveau Barracudas’. Natasha played well in both ends of the ice throughout the contest.

Week ending January 8, 2016

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Springfield Sabers’ Kristen Early who scored late in the third period of her team’s loss to the Kelvin Clippers early in the week; finishing with a strong performance against the VMC Trojans on Friday, leading several rushes and blocking shots to keep her team in the game at key points.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to West Kildonan Wolverines’ Mackenzie Neapew who was on fire this week in her team’s game against the Glenlawn Lions. Mackenzie scored four goals in the first period including a natural hat-trick, creating a lead that the Wolverines would not relinquish. Later she added two assists to secure the 8-5 victory.

Week ending December 18, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations VMC Trojans’ Leah Hibbert, a power forward who helped her team to a 4-1 win over the CLC Scorpions by showing great leadership and class throughout the game. Leah made a marvelous play to set up the game’s first goal followed by scoring the short-handed, game winning goal midway through the 2nd period.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations CSHC Huskies’ Annaliese Meier, who had a monster week, scoring 5 goals and 2 helpers in her team’s victory over the SJR Eagles and finished off the week scoring 3 goals and adding 4 assists in their victory over the West Kildonan Wolverines.

Week ending December 11, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Oak Park Raiders’ Courtney Kruse who was on absolute fire this week. Monday Courtney scored 2 goals in the 3rd period to tie the game later won by the Westwood Warriors in OT; Thursday she added another goal and assist, helping her team defeat the CLC Scorpions; and Friday, she scored another 4 goals and an assist defeating the Garden City Gophers.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Rebecca Thevenot who scored 2 goals and an assist in her team’s 7-0 win over the SJR Eagles, followed by 2 assists in her team’s 4-0 win over the Beliveau Barracudas.

Week ending December 4, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to PCI Saints’ Samantha Turner; a power forward who helped her team to a narrow 3-2 victory over the FRC Centurions by scoring 1 goal and playing a very strong defensive game limiting the Centurions chances to score.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes Kali Solmundson who had a productive week by assisting on 3 of 4 goals scored in her team’s 4-0 win over the Huskies and potting 1 goal the next day in a 5-0 win over the Lions.

Week ending November 27, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to St. Mary’s Flames’ Jenny Kim who helped lead her team to two victories last week. Jenny scored 1 goal in a hard fought 4-2 victory over the Westwood Warriors, and the following day, potted another goal and a helper in a 2-0 victory over the FRC Centurions.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Beliveau Barracudas’ Jenna Fisette who had a hot hand in her team’s 6-3 victory over the SJR Eagles. Jenna came out strong and worked hard to score 2 goals and 1 assist.

Week ending November 20, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Shaftesbury Titans’ Taylor Woodward, a skilled forward who helped her team rack up six points this week, scoring a single goal in the 3-1 victory over the FRC Centurions and 2 additional goals in the 3-0 victory over the reigning champion Dakota Lancers later in the week.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Glenlawn Lions’ Riley Stephanchew, a star power forward who was on a roll this week scoring a hat-trick in the 4-1 victory over the West Kildonan Wolverines, then scored an additional goal in a barnburner three days later in a thrilling 2-1 victory over the powerful Selkirk Royals.

Week ending November 13, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to Dakota Lancers’ Sonja Neale who had a huge week, scoring 3 goals in the Lancers’ 4-3 win over the CLC Scorpions, and then 3 days later, scoring 2 goals and an assist in their 7-4 win over the River East Kodiaks. Sonja was the catalyst on the ice for the Lancers as she controlled the ebb and flow of each game.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to CSHC Huskies’ Danielle Chobotar who was a wrecking machine in the Huskies’ 5-0 victory over the Glenlawn Lions. Danielle scored 3 goals and worked exceedingly hard in all 4 corners of the ice as if she owned it. She never stopped until the game ended.

Week ending November 7, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to CLC Scorpions’ Matti Borgfjord who scored a hat trick in a thrilling 7-6 victory over the Garden City Gophers. Matti was also on the ice for the final 45 seconds defending the 1 goal lead against 6 attackers who stormed the goal and came up short handed.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to SJR Eagles’ Nicole Van der Meulen who was on fire against the West Kildonan Wolverines as she scored 5 goals and added an assist . Nicole worked hard both offensively and defensively as she helped her team limit the Wolverines to just 1 goal.

Week ending October 30, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to power forward, Kelvin Clippers’ Keyanna Lea who contributed 3 goals and 2 helpers in her team’s win over the Oak Park Raiders this week. Keyanna used her back and fore checking skills to control the game from puck drop to final whistle.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Miles Mac Buckeyes’ Mikaela Robinson who scored 2 goals in her team’s crushing defeat of the CSHC Huskies. Mikaela also controlled the puck in her own zone and had several end to end rushes which led to their victory.

Week ending October 23, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to River East Kodiaks’ Mackenzie Henley who scored 2 late, third period goals to help her team beat the FRC Centurions in a thrilling 5-4 win. Mac also contributed 2 assists and was a strong defensive player against the Centurions better players.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to West Kildonan Wolverines’ Kaitlin Henley who took the reigns and added much needed depth, leading her team to a narrow 3 to 2 victory over the SJR Eagles. Kaitlin rallied her troops by scoring an early goal and then setting up the game winner.

Week ending October 16, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to FRC Centurions’ Hannah Pales who had a hot hand in her team’s thrilling 6-5 victory over the Garden City Gophers. Hannah dominated the game each and every shift she played, scoring 4 goals and adding 2 assists - a joy to watch.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Glenlawn Lions’ Carina McLennan who contributed to her team’s first win in their inaugural season by scoring 2 goals and adding 1 assist to defeat the West Kildonan Wolverines 5-3 . Carina was strong on the puck which helped her control the game.

Week ending October 9, 2015

  • CTV Division A: Congratulations to CJS Olympiens Paige Collins who started off the year with a Big Bang. Paige scored all 3 goals in a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Westwood Warriors and later in the week again scored the game winner in an equally thrilling 2-1 victory over the VMC Trojans.
  • Winnipeg Free Press Division B: Congratulations to Selkirk Royals Courtney Sorokopud-Jones who was on fire all week. Courtney scored 2 goals in a tight 3-2 loss to the Miles Mac Buckeyes, and 4 more goals and 2 assists in their 10-2 win over the West Kildonan Wolverines.
